I started reading Hellblazer around issue 46, based on a reccomendation of comic writer Garth Ennis. I imediatly bought 41 upwards, and have bought the comic on or off over the last fourteen years.

Now issue 216 sees the debut of Denise Mina, a glasgow crime thriller writer, and she has just started.

This is the perfect place to start reading what has always been a mature and provocative horror comic, with a mix of violence, magic and the odd mythical character turning up. Set in London the protagonist John COnstintine is originally a liverpoodlian and is best described as a dodgy geezer.

anyhow, if you ever thought about buying comics, not an outstander such as watchmen but a simple on going and rewarding title, that every month you can call into a comic shop and get, this may be the one.
