I saw much the same thing when Robocop became a family-friendly product.
S**t, I'd love to get the suit who made that decision in a room with some old-time Robocop fans armed with baseball bats.
There ain't no way he would come back from that beating.

OH Yeah, I rember that robocop cartoon and the toys.

wow, that Was odd wasent it.

Rember the Ailens action figures, they looked like they were based of a cartoon series. but there was no family friendly version. they only way kids could see the movie over here was by breaking the law.

For this. and the decline of western civilisation I also blame the octocon comittee.
