Hi,

Gota aquestion from my GP - he has many documents, scanned files, faxes etc on his PC re his patients, and wants to know is there a s/w application that allows him to cross reference them. He uses winamp for his music files, and with this he can select by year, album, artist, type etc, and wants to do the same for documents.

Any help as always gratefully received

Thanks

Hi,

I'm not sure what software he needs, but I know there are a number of document management packages that should do the trick.

They generally let you scan and store lots of documents, uses OCR to identify as much text as they can, and let you add any keywords or other criteria you want to file them under. The OCR is not to turn them into an editable document, but just so that you can search on keywords and be taken to the appropriate point in the document.

All very clever, really.
