Transformers UK Returns!

Transformers UK Returns!James Brophy writes:

If you were born in the late 1970's then you will no doubt remember the transformers and marvel UK. When Marvel ran out of American Transformer comics to reprint then they started making their own, much of it written by Simon Furman. Because of the excellent quality of the UK comics, some American fans went to great expense to get a hold of it.

15 years on the same thing might be happening again. The new Transformers comic from Dreamwave has been bouncing about in the top 3 places of the charts since it was first released a few months ago. Toy maker Hasbro, the owner of the transformers licence, called a halt to the sale of the Transformers and GI-Joe comics outside the US last week. Now there seems Panini, publishers of the Ultimate Marvel comics in the UK, are now planning to publish brand new transformers comics not related to the Dreamwave comics but instead based on the old marvel UK line. They are to be written by Simon Furman.

Simon is already writing a number of stories for the Dreamwave line so we might end up with a two-way trade of Transformers comics between UK and US fans. But if you can stick it out there are plans in the works to repackage the American TF comics for the UK market by a Titan. The collections are to be overseen by a titan employee whose name just happens to be Simon Furman.
