James White Award Enters Second YearFollowing a successful first year, the James White Award 2001 has been announced. Updated rules and writers' guidelines can now be found on their web site. The competition runs until September 2001 and the prize will be awarded in October in Belfast.

Congratulations to Mark Dunn, winner of the 2000 award. Mark collected the trophy, along with 200 prize money at the award ceremony which took place after Dublin's Octocon Science Fiction Convention. Mark's story, "Think Tank", will be appearing in the December issue of InterZone magazine.

The Lost Car Park would like to offer its congratulations to James Bacon for organising the James White award. Although only announced in April, the competition received over 100 entries from as far afield as Brazil and Australia, and we expect this to become established as a major event on the science fiction calendar.
