Seiun Shortlist Announced

The organisers of the Japan SF Convention 2001 have announced the nominees for the Seiun Awards. These are regarded as the Japanese Hugos and honour original and translated works. The Nominees for foreign work are as follows:

. Darwin's Radio, Greg Bear

. Barrayar, Lois McMasterBujold

. The Moon and the Sun, Vonda N. McIntyre

Short stories:

. Oceanic, Greg Egan

. The Hundred Light-Year Diary, Greg Egan

. The Saliva Tree, Brian W. Aldiss

. The Sharks of Pentreath, Michael G. Coney

. Orphans of the Helix, Dan Simmons

. The Little Magic Shop, Bruce Sterling

. An Explanation for the Disappearance of the Moon, John Sladek

. A Separate War, Joe Haldeman

. "...For a Single Yesterday", George R. R. Martin

The winners will be announced at the convention which takes place in Chiba on August 18th and 19th. The foreign awards will be re-presented during Worldcon in Philadelphia.
