We Shall Not See Their Like Again

Poul Anderson passed away from prostate cancer on the night of July 31. He was 74 years old. His career encompassed over half a century.

His first professional story was published in 1947 and his latest novel, Genesis, won the John W. Campbell Award for best Science Fiction Novel of 2000. During his career, he won seven Hugo Awards, three Nebulas and was named Grandmaster of the SFWA in 1997. He also served as the SFWA's President.

His writing encompassed many facets of the genre from hard SF such as Genesis (1957) or Tau Zero (1970) to the fantasy of Three Hearts and Three Lions (1961) and The King of Ys (1988 with wife Karen Anderson), to the humor of Earthman's Burden (1957 with Gordon R. Dickson) and The High Crusade (1982).
