So, we’ve reached day 24, the last day of the calendar.

Astonishing.

Today I’m doing something a little bit different.

One of the amazing things about Drupal is the community that surrounds the project. This is supported by issue queues, forums such as Slack and various other channels. However, there is only so far text channels can go.

Unfortunately, Drupal has not been as successful as some other content management systems at building a community supplying ready-to-use themes.

Today I want to talk about a module that I think will be a big part of Drupal’s future, even though I wouldn’t recommend installing it on production sites quite yet.

The module is called Project Browser, and as its name implies, it allows you to look for Drupal projects from within your site.

I was trying to come up with a solstice related Drupal project, but the only one I found was a Drupal subtheme called Solstice that only seems to exist as a GitHub repository, and was last updated over 3 years ago. Feel free to check it out, but that’s not what I’m talking about today.

Welcome to day 20 of the advent calendar, and today we are taking a short break from Drupal modules to get a bit festive, and add some decorations to our holiday tree.

But I wanted to keep it on the Drupal theme so what could be better than some Drupal themed baubles to hang from our tree?

I happen to have a 3D printer at my disposal, so I set about designing some drop shaped baubles with the Drupal icon face on, using my preferred 3D design application, Blendar.

I started in 2D, designing a bezier curve approximating the outline of the drop.

Today’s module is another simple one, but one that I have found to be surprisingly effective.

The module is called Antibot, and it helps protect your site from bots that like to create fake or spam form submissions.

So we’ve made it to day 18 of the Advent Calendar. Christmas is a week away. The decorations are up, the presents are wrapped, and the excitement for the big day is growing.

And I personally can’t believe I’ve kept going all the way to door 18!

Today I’m going to talk about mailing lists, newsletters, and sending updates to your users.

If you have an email list, you may be using one of the many excellent newsletter services that are available. They are generally reliable and efficient, though they can be expensive.

Drupal has a really impressive menu system, with a lot of power to create hierarchical menus.

Unfortunately, when it comes to displaying menus, it sometimes feels like it’s stuck in the 1990s.

If you are building an editorial workflow, then a problem is how reviewers can give feedback about a piece of content. You can report problems, but it can be difficult for the writer or editor to find exactly where in the content item they need to edit.

Wouldn’t it be great if you could highlight a piece of text and attach your comment directly to it?
