In today’s door we are looking at the Documentation Track of Drupal CMS, with some help from Amber Matz, who is working on the track.
As work progresses for the initial release of Drupal CMS, how is work progressing on documentation?
Since DrupalCon Barcelona at the end of September, we – that is Drupalize.Me trainers Joe Shindelar and myself – have been working with Lenny Moskalyk at the Drupal Association, (the Drupal CMS documentation track lead) and Pamela Barone, the Drupal CMS product lead on what documentation to Drupal CMS’ initial documentation should look like.
It’s a different process than the usual Drupal way of contributing, all thanks to the Adopt A Document program that Dries Buytaert announced during his Driesnote at DrupalCon Barcelona in late September 2024. Adopt A Document is a sponsorship program to fund high quality documentation production. You can read more about it on the Starshot Initiative Blog or in this short video:
Currently, Joe and I are working on “Getting Started with Drupal CMS” documentation. This work focuses on:
- Getting Drupal CMS installed locally
- Getting around Drupal CMS
- Understanding content modeling
- About Drupal CMS’ AI emerging AI tools
- Adding functionality with smart defaults (“recipes”, etc.)
As more Drupal CMS features get stabilized, we’ll be able to consider priorities for the next batch of documentation. We’re excited to see the progress on Drupal CMS so far and look forward to helping new Drupal CMS users with great docs.
Amber Matz maintains and creates content on Drupalize.Me for Osio Labs. She is a co-maintainer of the core Help module and has been working on Help Topics since its inception, so Drupal CMS documentation is a natural extension. Amber enjoys playing the accordion and exploring the outdoors with a camera and binoculars.
